Stars of “AtlHomicide” Receive Proclamation From The City of Atlanta
by Ruben Blanco
The stars of TVOne’s “AtlHomicide” and former Homicide detectives in the Atlanta Police Department David Quinn and Vincent Velazquez were honored today in the Atlanta City Council chamber as councilman Michael Julian Bond present the retired public servants with a special proclamation.
The proclamation serves to honor the service and success of the duo as APD detectives and the highly acclaimed television series that sheds light on the many Homicide cases that Quinn and Velazquez covered in their career.
Now in it’s second season on the cable network TVOne, partners Quinn and Velazquez have been able to not only showcase the cases they have solved in their career but also showcase the city they have served and love.
Today The GeorgiaSentinelNews.com was able to catch up with the detectives at the proclamation reception in downtown Atlanta. We asked about their thoughts on their award, career and tv show.

Vincent Velazquez.
“To do this job the way we did, you have to love this city. Because we put our heart and soul into our service to this city and the many families we encountered in the unfortunate nation our job”, says former detective Quinn.
Always mindful of of the communities they have worked in their career, both detectives are quick to express the empathy and care in which they have attempted to bring each and every day on the job and now in the production process on the show. “As minorities ourselves we want people to know we understand much of their experiences in their communities, because we both come from communities that were underserved and disenfranchised. But in addition to that, in our personal lives we have seen the ills that often plague these communities.”
It is the understanding of the communities they served and present in the show that has helped present an authenticity that connects with AtlHomicide’s audience.
