One Month Until the 2024 Presidential Election

With just one month left until the 2024 Presidential Election on November 5, Georgia
voters face a critical deadline. Today Monday, Oct. 7, marks the last day to register to vote for
this election. This milestone is especially important as Georgia remains a key
battleground state, with both candidates—Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican
Donald Trump—fighting for every vote.

Here’s what voters need to know as the election approaches:

As early voting kicks off on Oct. 15, Donald Trump’s campaign continues to emphasize
election integrity, a central theme of his 2024 platform. Trump has maintained that the
2020 election was tainted by widespread fraud and has vowed to scrutinize the
upcoming election closely. In a recent statement, Trump said:

“Together with many Attorneys and Legal Scholars, I am watching the sanctity of the
2024 Presidential Election very closely because I know, better than most, the rampant
cheating and skullduggery that has taken place by the Democrats in the 2020
Presidential Election.”

His focus on prosecuting those he accuses of election fraud has rallied a significant
portion of his base, particularly older voters, who remain crucial to his campaign in
Georgia. Trump also continues to advocate for tax cuts and deregulation, claiming that
his policies will boost the economy and ensure national security.

Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, is positioning herself as the
candidate of economic reform and social justice. Harris, who replaced Joe Biden on the
Democratic ticket after his decision not to seek re-election, has selected Minnesota
Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. Together, they are advocating for raising taxes
on the wealthy and corporations, while expanding family support programs and
improving access to healthcare.

Harris’ proposals include raising the capital gains tax rate for the wealthy to 28% and
ensuring more robust social services for families, particularly in rural and underserved
areas. This is crucial in Georgia, where healthcare access has been a key issue,
notably among the minority and impoverished communities.

Georgia voters who want to participate in the election must register by Oct. 7. After
that, early voting begins on October 15 and runs through November 1.
On Election Day, voters will cast their ballots at their assigned polling locations, and
mail-in ballots must be requested by October 25.

Given the tight race between Harris and Trump—both polling closely in Georgia—every
vote will count in deciding the state’s 16 electoral votes. Georgia remains a key swing
state, where both parties are focusing their efforts to win the small margin that could
